Facebook is in plans of extending its presence among the Android users. After prompting the Android users to utilize the Facebook Messenger as the default texting application, the firm is in plans to release an app called ‘Phone’. It appears like the main functionality of this app will be to quench the caller ID and dialer requirements of the users.
Some Android users have received an accidental notification prompting them to install the Phone app from Facebook for Android. However, the application is yet to be launched and hence its install links do not function. But, this accidental notification has revealed some details regarding the existence of this app.
From the details revealed by the notification text, this new Facebook’s Phone app is likely to be a blend of Google’s Dialer and TrueCaller apps. The notification reads, “Phone is the new app that shows you info about who’s calling and automatically blocks calls from commonly blocked numbers.”
Facebook is said to use a crowd-sourced database that will provide the details about the phone numbers and their callers. Also, there is no word from Facebook on when this Phone app will be made available.
