What comes to your mind when you hear of an 18,000mAh battery? Yes, you are right. Power bank it is. And this is exactly what comes to mind when we think of Energizer’s latest toy dubbed Power Max P18K Pop. Except that it’s not, rather, it’s actually a smartphone. Or just a power bank with smartphone capabilities.
Call it whatever you may, but Energizer thinks the Power Max P18K Pop is a smartphone that folks need to have in 2019. Perhaps it stems from the fact that people have always complained about the poor battery life they get with smartphones these days.
With this chunky device that probably is thicker (18mm) and heavier than any other smartphone or even battery pack you’ve ever held in your hand, the company feels like it has a solution to all of your battery life issues.
The massive battery unit is claimed to survive 90 hours of calling, 100 hours of back to back music, 48 hours of nonstop video playback, or 50 days on standby mode, but of course, all of this can only be confirmed with real-life use. On top of the brick is a 6.2-inch FHD+ LCD display screen with minimal bezels and no notch or cutout for the camera like it is becoming a trend this year.
To house the selfie camera, the Energizer Power Max P18K Pop has a pop-up mechanism that reveals a dual-lens 16MP + 2MP setup while the back gets a tri-lens 12MP + 5MP + 2MP camera array.
On the inside, the Max P18K Pop has the MediaTek Helio P70 chipset that’s allied to 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage whereas Android 9 Pie takes care of the software. Of course, to shorten the time needed to fill up the huge brick, you have support for fast charging tech.
The P18K Pop will begin selling this summer, which is when we’ll get to know more about pricing and exact market availability.
