Gone are the days when folks like us used to flash CyanogenMod ROMs for the fun of it. The custom ROM community has graduated from fun features to experience features now, and CyanogenMod is the most developed ROM out there if you’re looking for an user-controlled software experience on Android.

CM let’s you control many aspects of Android, and the ROM even comes with an inbuilt Super User manager which let’s you disable root when not needed or selectively allow root access for either Apps only or ADB only or both.

The most recent version of the ROM, CyanogenMod 13, also has the extended options to control root access on the device. Check out the instructions below for help:

How to Enable Root on CM13
  1. Enable Developer options: Go to Settings » About phone » Tap seven times on Build number.
  2. Go back to Settings main menu and open Developer options from there.
  3. Look for Root access setting, and set it Apps and ADB or Apps only or ADB only, as per your need.

That’s all. This enable root access on CM13.

Happy Androiding!
