Update: Chainfire just confirmed. You can flash the SuperSU 2.78 SR4 from TWRP recovery on your Pixel and Pixel XL to get rooted. Read his full post on Google+. 

Chainfire has just released SuperSU v2.78 SR4 as a recovery flashable zip. This is a quick followup after the TWRP recovery for Pixel and Pixel XL devices were released officially earlier today.

We don’t have a Pixel phone in hand to test/verify if flashing SuperSU v2.78 SR4 on Pixel phones via recovery gives SuperSU root access, but we are pretty sure the update is something in that direction.

Chainfire is yet to make an announcement about the update officially on his Google+, Twitter or xda account. So we’ll just leave this to you dear brave readers with a Pixel phone in hand and TWRP recovery installed to try rooting by flashing this latest SuperSU 2.78 SR4 build to your device.
