Download OnePlus 2 Oxygen OS 2.0.1 OTA and Full ROM/firmware

As expected, both the full ROM and OTA file of the Oxygen OS 2.0.1 update are available for download now, ready to be installed on your OnePlus 2 right away.

While the full ROM is sized 1.1 GB, the OTA update demands just 40 MB of your bandwidth. Installation is same for both the files, which is given below. You need to have stock recovery on your OnePlus 2. In case you had TWRP, you need to install stock recovery back to be able to install OnePlus 2 update provided here.

Supported devices

  • OnePlus 2
  • Don’t try this on OnePlus One!
  • Don’t try on any other device whatsoever!

Step-by-step Guide

Step 1. Download the update file (either OTA or Full) from above.

Step 2. Transfer the downloaded update file to your OnePlus 2. Remember its location. (You can also download the update directly on phone, in which case, it should be in download folder.)

Step 3. Boot your OnePlus One into recovery mode:

  1. Power off your OnePlus 2. Wait for 6-7 seconds after screen goes off.
  2. Press and hold Power + Volume up together until you see anything on screen.
  3. Use volume buttons to bring up Recovery mode option at the top of the screen.
  4. And then press Power button to select recovery mode option. That’s it you’ll boot into recovery mode.

Step 4. Install the update. Use the instruction for your recovery.

  1. In 3e recovery, use volume buttons to navigate to ‘install update ..’ option and then press power button to select it.
  2. Now, select the update file that you transferred to OnePlus 2 in step 2 above. Confirm this and Oxygen OS 2.0.1 update will be installed on your device.

→ If OTA update doesn’t install using the above method, just use the full ROM file, it should install without problem.

Step 5. The update will start installing, so just wait until that is finished. When it’s done, you will be back in recovery’s homescreen.

Step 6. Select ‘Reboot system now’ to restart your OnePlus 2.

That’s it.

  1. How long does it take if you install the full rom? I seem to stuck in a repetitive loop of the os starting up and the optimising apps screen.

    1. Optimizing apps can take 5 to 30 mins or more depending how many apps you have. Don’t worry, just Just wait patiently for it to get over.

    2. its happened to me too
I am waiting for 40 minutes and its keep repeting and keep optimizing the apps again and again… what do you sugget to do?

  3. I bought a OnePlus 2 from Gearbest and i have this problem of the update.
But if i Flash the full rom after i should do the wipe data and the wipe cache?
and after the installation of the OxygenOs 2.0.1. the OTA of OxygenOs 2.0.2. will install without flash?

    1. There is no need to wipe data, although you can wipe cache either before or after the full ROM flash of OxygenOS 2.0.1. However, if your phone isn’t functioning well, then wipe data could help as this will factory reset it — all your apps and files will be gone.
You should be able to able to get 2.0.2 update as an OTA, and it should install automatically once you click on Install. No need to flash it manually like above.

  4. Ok thanks a lot.
Then i cuold flash the full oxygen with the stock recovery?
I should go into recovery, go to install from SD, select the file of full oxygen and (when the installation finish) reboot the sistem.
    It’s only right?

  7. What’s the difference between “full ROM” and “OTA update”?

    1. OTA update is incremental firmware. Full ROM is well, the whole firmware.

    2. Thank you for your answer.

Just one more question. If I install the full ROM, does it mean I’ll lose all my data? Is it like a hard reset?

Will I lose data if I do an OTA update?

I understand that OTA update is incremental firmware, but what will be the consequences on my divice if I do an “OTA uptdate” and if I install the “full ROM”?

      Thank you once more.

  9. try OTA update first, as it will definitely not reset your device.
but in case, it doesn’t work, try the Full ROM, which shouldn’t wipe your device. But no guarantee. Basically, unless you are asked to do a wipe data/factory reset option in recovery, it won’t reset.

  13. Hi,

    Good day.
As suggested in the article, initially I had downloaded the OTA and tried to install the OS update but the installation failed. Then I have downloaded the full ROM but still installation failed. My One Plus 2 is functioning perfectly normal but I am unable to install update in anyway. Any effective suggestions will be highly appreciated.

    Thank you.
