Well, what do we have here? A Chinese OEM releasing updates? Well, yeah, the Elephone P9000 users from Europe and Asia can now update their daily driver to Android 7.0 Nougat update. It’s finally available!
Truth be told, we don’t get to see Android manufacturers from China come up with major OS updates a lot, let alone from an upcoming company like Elephone. Except for Huawei, admittedly, who seems to be the only OEM from that region to come fair with updates. Unlike its Chinese competitors, Elephone — no matter how small it is against the big ones! — has realized that software updates are also crucial to good sales. So, hats off to these guys!
The Elephone P9000 was also released in India earlier today, and is priced very competitively at INR11,999 ($185 approx.). On top of that, the Indian variant ships with Nougat on board. But the European and Asian variants are still on Marshmallow. In fact, Elephone had its Nougat firmware for the P9000 leaked last year in November.
But till today, the OEM was on standby and struggled to roll out the update due to numerous issues that came up. Unfortunately the P9000 does not have an option to receive OTA upgrades yet, so the only way to get the device onto Nougat is to flash it manually.
To flash the P9000 ROM, follow their tutorial mentioned below. It is crucial that you install the PC drivers for your device correctly. Otherwise, there is a chance of your smartphone not detecting.
