The Android L SDK and developer preview releases for Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 2013 are out but if you’re not an owner of either of the devices, the release of Android L SDK means only one thing to you — APK ports. So yes, go ahead and totally wear that Android fanboy face for the the new sleek Material designed Android L Keyboard’s APK port.
This Android L keyboard APK has been ported by XDA member, bejunk, and users have reported it to be working great on AOSP based ROMs so far, no matter which device. We tried it on our Moto X and it worked flawlessly.
Once installed, the new Google keyboard will show the same UI from previous versions of Android but you’ll be able switch to the Android L Material design UI by easily switching the color scheme of keyboard to “Material”. Here’s how:
- Go to Android L Google Keyboard settings
- Open “Avanced settings”
- Select Color scheme “Material”
Download Android L Keyboard zip file → download file [link updated] └ For updates, check the original post here.
It’s a recovery flashable zip file, if you need help with flashing files through recovery, head on over here → How to Flash ZIP files using CWM / TWRP Recovery.
You may see minor issues with the keyboard’s layout, depending on the phone you’re trying this on. But otherwise, this Android L keyboard port installs and works flawlessly.
