Download Android 5.0 Lollipop for Nexus 4, port from Nexus 5 preview image

Wooho! We didn’t expect this coming within 24 hours of Android 5.0 preview image release for the Nexus 5. Android 5.0 Lollipop preview image that Google released for Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 2013 just got ported over for the Nexus 4. Google promised Android 5.0 update for the Nexus in first week of November, but there are handful lot of Nexus 4 users literally drooling for the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

This isn’t any official release, some folks over at android.com.pl forums XDA forums build up the Android 5.0 Lollipop port for Nexus 4 using the preview image released by Google Nexus 5. The build has been tagged alpha for now, which is understandable given the fact that it hasn’t even been 24 hours yet since the release of Android 5.0 final preview images and a port is already available for the Nexus 4.

As we’re writing this, the Android 5.0 port for Nexus 4 is being downloading and unfortunately, our Nexus 4 is totally out on battery so it’s also charging up. We’ll flash and try this on our Nexus 4 soon. If you happen to own a Nexus 4, you can grab the ROM from the download link below just grab the download link below and flash it off on your N4.

The above file is a recovery flashable custom ROM zip file that you can flash via CWM/TWRP recovery. Make sure to wipe data/factory reset before you flash this.

Update: Looks like we gave credits to the wrong team before, this is a release from XDA dev percy_g2 and here’s is the link to his original post on XDA.

  1. Not going to bother crediting the people on XDA who did the actual work?

By the way, the first release doesn’t work,it’s still being prepared, there’s a 2nd alpha out.

Follow the actual thread here where they do credit the devs :

    1. In fact I’ve created the thread over forum.android.com.pl but I clearly stated that it isn’t my work. Like we do with every other work from XDA… Say sorry for me in the thread. I’m not very active on XDA so i still have only 6 posts and I can’t apologize myself 🙂

      Actual Polish thread: http://forum.android.com.pl/f794/android-5-0-lollipop-developer-preview-port-lpx13d-alpha-18-10-2014-a-440183/

    2. Good to see someone giving the developers at XDA proper credit!

  3. You need to actually credit the developers that made this possible on XDA. Here’s the link so you can do your journalistic job the way its actually supposed to be done.

By the way Aplha 2 is out now so take down that link so the two readers you actually have can at least get the right version.

  5. @jonzey231:disqus @djsubterrain:disqus Post updated with proper credits to percy_g2 and XDA. My apologies for crediting the wrong team before. It has been our intention to steal work of other people. It was an honest mistake.

    1. You mean “it HASN’T been our intention” =P

      1. Actually, I meant “It has NEVER* been our intention” but damnit! this is embarrassing.
