Disney has started selling Ultra HD 4K content through the Google Play Store, putting up 4K content for purchase online for the first time in the company’s history.

Other major studios, such as Pixar, Lucasfilm, and Marvel Studios have also put some of their 4K titles up for sale on Google Play.

Which movies are available?

So far, seven 4K titles have been put on the Google Play store — blockbuster superhero flicks like Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Captain Marvel (2019), and Black Panther (2018); Animated masterpieces, such as Coco (2017) and The Lion King (1992); and two uncategorized titles, Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) and A Wrinkle in Time (2018).

The highest-grossing movie of all time, Avengers Endgame (2019), will be available in 4K on Google Play when it goes digital on July 30th. The other two Avengers titles, Age of Ultron (2015) and Avengers (2012), will also be up for purchase.

Pricing

Taking the penultimate Avengers movie as an example, 4K movies usually go for $24.99, while HDs come for $19.99.

According to Google, who started selling 4K titles on Google Play back in 2016, the Disney collection will grow exponentially in the coming months.

The HD/4K content you purchase from Google Play can be enjoyed on Android TV, Chromecast Ultra, as well as other supported Smart TVs.
