In an era of stiff competition and promotional offerings, free gifts are the best ways to trigger the sales of a product. And when top smartphone manufacturers resort to this technique, it speaks volumes about the heat being generated in this segment. LG, from the onset, has been using freebies as a handle to promote the sale of its flagship smartphone G6. In Korea, LG is giving away Bang & Olufsen earphone for only $5 with LG G6.

A few days back LG announced that it will give away 200,000 Won worth of free gifts to customers purchasing LG G6 before June-end in its parent country. In addition LG is offering complimentary items for only $5 and buyers can choose from any one of the three items — a Bang & Olufsen earphone, LG Tone Plus Bluetooth headset, Raleigh foldable keyboard 2 and a wireless beetle mouse.

LG Electronics had made similar promotions since March. Of the three existing gifts, the Nescafe Dolce Gusto coffee machine was removed and a Bang & Olufsen earphone was inserted.

LG says that it has added sound equipment in consideration of over half the customers who picked Tone Plus from the previous option. The play earphone with B & O tuning technology is in sync with the G6’s quad digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and delivers high quality sound, LG said.

LG Electronics also announced that it will provide 300 applications optimized for the G6 smartphone via LG app store. Also, this month, 1,000 of lucky G6 buyers will be presented with a new LG Watch Style.

MK News quoted Lee Sang-gyu, head of LG Electronics Korea Mobile Group, as saying, “We will continue to promote differentiated promotions so that customers who buy LG G6 can enjoy the benefits of the product with real benefits.”

Consider all these as a generous offering from LG for users or LG’s battle against Galaxy S8 series, the ultimate winner in this scenario stands to be the customers.
