Daydream, which is the virtual reality experience from Google, needs a Daydream enabled handset to work properly. Currently, only a few handsets such as Google’s own Pixel devices, Moto Z, Moto Z Force, Mate 9, ZTE Axon and Samsung S8 and S8+ are Daydream enabled.

If you recently brought a Daydream enabled handset or you have been using it for a while, yet you are getting an error ‘Incompatible phone’ error for Daydream app, well, don’t worry. There is nothing wrong with your device, it is easy to fix the problem and here’s how to do it.

How to fix incompatible phone error on Daydream VR app

  1. Open device Settings and go to Apps/Application Manager.
  2. Scroll down and tap Daydream app.
  3. Tap Storage.
  4. Tap ‘Clear Cache’ and ‘Clear data’.
  5. Reboot your device and reopen the Daydream app. The error will be gone.

However, keep in mind, the steps only work when your phone is Daydream VR compatible.
