Befriend a Pet Skunk in Crimson Desert by traveling to Beighen Candlery, south of Pailune, and taming wild skunks using the standard trust-building system (petting + feeding).
How to Get a Pet Skunk in Crimson Desert
Step 1: Progress to Hernand
Complete the early main story quests until you unlock Hernand, the first major town in Crimson Desert. This is the gateway region where the pet taming system becomes accessible, typically within the first few hours of gameplay.
Step 2: Fast Travel to Beighen Candlery
Open your map and locate Pailune, the major northern city.

Navigate south from Pailune to find the teleportation point near Beighen Candlery—this is your spawn zone for wild skunks. Fast travel directly to Beighen Candlery to save time.

Step 3: Locate Wild Skunks
Skunks spawn naturally around the Beighen Candlery area. Walk around the teleportation point perimeter—they typically appear sitting on the ground or near environmental objects. If you don’t see one immediately, reload your save or rest at a nearby bed/cooking pot to refresh animal spawns.

Step 4: Begin Trust Building (Petting)
Approach the skunk and hold E (PC) or A (console) to pet it. Each pet interaction grants +5 Trust, with a daily cap of 5 pets = +25 Trust per in-game day. You’ll see a Trust percentage indicator appear above the skunk’s head tracking your progress toward the 100 Trust threshold.
Step 5: Accelerate Taming with Food
To speed up the process, feed the skunk directly. Open your inventory, select Raw Meat (purchased from butchers/grocers in Hernand or obtained by hunting deer/wildlife), then hold the Use button and select “Take Out” to drop food at the skunk’s feet. Skunks accept almost any food item—meat, grapes, and other consumables all work. Feeding grants +10 Trust per food item, capped at 3 feeds per day (+30 to +35 Trust depending on food quality).

Step 6: Maximize Efficiency Using Midnight Reset
Pet and feed the skunk to reach the daily cap (55-60 Trust total per day). If you’re taming around 11:00 PM in-game time, complete your petting/feeding session, then wait until midnight—the interaction limits reset instantly. Immediately pet and feed again after the reset to hit 100 Trust in one real-time sitting instead of waiting 2-3 days.
Step 7: Register the Skunk as Your Pet
Once the Trust meter reaches 100%, put the skunk down if you’re carrying it, then hold E to select “Take In”. The skunk officially becomes your pet and appears in the Pets section of your inventory menu. You can now summon or dismiss it anytime via the inventory screen.

Critical Mistakes to Avoid When Taming Skunks
-
Dropping food too far away: Other NPCs or animals may eat the food before your target skunk reaches it. Drop food directly at the skunk’s feet.
-
Ignoring the midnight reset trick: Taming takes 2-3 days if you only interact once per day. Coming at 11 PM and waiting for midnight cuts this to one session.
-
Confusing daily caps: You cannot exceed 5 pets (+25 Trust) or 3 feeds (+30-35 Trust) per in-game day, even if you drop more food.
-
Forgetting inventory space: Ensure you have open inventory slots before starting combat with your pet—skunks and other companions auto-loot defeated enemies, and loot won’t be collected if your inventory is full.
