What to know

  • The challenge is Shield of Unchanging Will 5, and the objective is to flip five enemies with a shield.

  • If the challenge is not unlocked yet, it is located just south of the Demeniss, along the edge of the field on the path.

  • The best place to complete it is a small enemy camp, such as a bandit camp or goblin camp, because fewer enemies make it easier to control the fight.

  • The shield flip only works when you are very close to a dazed enemy; if you stand too far away, the shield may only swing instead of flipping them.

Crimson Desert‘s shield challenge “Shield of Unchanging Will V” is quite straightforward once you understand the range and timing. The key is to get enemies dazed, move in close, and use the shield at point-blank range so it flips them over. You want to create a moment where enemies are not actively attacking and not fully defending, then step in close and use the shield to send them over.

For the completion attempt, a small campsite is the easiest option. A bandit camp or goblin camp works well because it gives you a limited number of enemies to manage, instead of a large chaotic group.

How to flip enemies

Step 1

Lure enemies away from the main group so you can control the fight more easily. A few enemies at a time is better than a full crowd.

Step 2

Get them into a dazed or awkward recovery state. You can do this by letting them attack into your shield or by striking them in a way that leaves them staggered.

Step 3

Move right up close to the enemy. Distance is the difference between a normal shield swing and the flip animation, so stay almost on top of them.

Step 4

Use your shield at point-blank range. When the enemy is in that recovery state and you are close enough, the shield will flip them over instead of just hitting them.

Step 5

Repeat the process five times. Once the timing clicks, the challenge becomes a simple loop of daze, close in, flip, and reset.

Tips and approach

Use a smaller camp and fight patiently instead of rushing into a big group. A place with roughly 10 to 15 enemies is good as it gives you enough targets without overwhelming the setup.

Try to isolate enemies one by one and repeat the same rhythm each time. Once you understand the close-range requirement, the challenge can be completed very quickly.
