BlackBerry PRIV units are receiving a new firmware update which is being rolled out to the global variants over the air. The update installs the latest security patch.

Arriving as build number AAL202, the new update brings May security patch. It also tags along system improvements and fixes for regular bugs. Although a minor one weighing at around 198MB, the update is highly recommended as it enhances the security of your device.

As is the case with OTA roll out, it may take some time to appear on your device. But if waiting is not your thing, there’s a way for you to check the update manually. You can do this by going to Settings > About device > System updates.

However, before hitting the download the button, connect your device to a WiFi network and ensure your phone’s battery is fully charged.
