Update [April 05, 2017]: ZTE has launched the Nougat preview for the Axon 7 Mini, enabling US users to have a go at Android 7.1.1 Nougat before it becomes official. Unfortunately, ZTE has now closed the doors to the preview program and stopped accepting new applicants. Those of you who were lucky enough to apply will be notified by ZTE, if selected for the program. The program serves as kind of a soak test, where you will be able to test the latest features for bugs and stability.

ZTE started rolling out a new update for its Axon 7 Mini in US that comes as model no. B2017G. The update is dubbed as Build 16, and brings the VoLTE support to the device, among numerous other items on the changelog.

The Build 16 OTA update is now available, and one can force the device to update using ‘check for update’ button under Settings > System updates. ZTE says that it looks to update all Axon 7 Mini sets in US with Build 16 by November 21.

The update also brings latest monthly security patch from Google, while optimizing stuff like time format in messaging, camera focus speed and night mode and OTG connection. Improved system stability and general enhancements are also part of the release notes.

The update is based on Marshmallow, of course, and there isn’t any official announcement about the Android Nougat for the Axon 7 Mini yet. But, the Axon 7 Nougat build is under the making for some time now, as screenshots leak earlier got us a good view of the Android 7.0 build.

Note: Before going for the update, make sure your ZTE Axon 7 Mini has atleast 30% battery power.
