ZTE Axon 7 revealed to support Google’s Daydream VR with Nougat

The Axon 7 has been given the go as regards Android 7.0 Nougat update, as ZTE has revealed that the device would be receiving the stable Nougat build soon, along with support for Daydream.

For those of who are unfamiliar with Daydream, it is Google’s initiative into virtual reality on Android. Daydream allows the user to experience virtual reality in games, movies and other apps including YouTube, Google Maps Street View, Google Play Movies & TV, and Google Photos. Third party apps are also available offering different ways to enjoy VR.

That being said, not all smartphones are Daydream compatible. Since the device is set very close to the viewers eyes, the display must be set at a recommended Quad HD resolution and support high refresh rates in order to have a pleasant viewing experience. This limits Daydream to flagship level smartphones due to the high requirements needed, leaving only a handful of Daydream ready devices for now.

The Axon 7 is a well built smartphone with flagship quality hardware, that is also priced very competitively. CES should bring us more new ZTE products, so hold on tight.
