Ever wanted your Android phone to automatically get Mute when you’re in a meeting or so? Well, with Android 6.0 Marshmallow you can do exactly that, thanks to advanced settings in “Do not disturb” mode.
Marshmallow allows you to set “Automatic rules” with “Do not Disturb” mode for calendar events on your device. You can define which calendar the rule should follow and which DND mode to select for the events — Priority only, Alarms only, or Total silence.
Interested? Here’s how you can set Automatic rules for calendar events on Android 6.0 Marshmallow:
- Go to Settings > Sound & Notification > select “Do not disturb”.
- Select “Automatic rules” > and then select “Event”.
- Now select your preferences here from the various options.
- Once you’re done, tap the toggle on top right corner to turn On the rule.
That’s it. Be careful with this setting though. Make sure you don’t end up turning your device silenced when you don’t want it to.
Happy Androiding!
Wow! Sweet feature.
Indeed, always wanted it on Android.

In the options it says “events where reply is yes, maybe or not”….I don’t want to be disturbed during working hours and have my work schedule in my calendar….how do I set that event as “yes”…it wasn’t a traditional “do you want to go to a party” type invite.
also, I have kids events and the wife’s schedule in my calendar on the phone (she has a separate gmail account)…will the “during event” be applied during her work schedule also? and the kids events (again separate calendar)
As far as I can tell, it seems to apply it to all calendars under your account. So it should be ok with not triggering off calendars off your wife’s account though there is an option to trigger off any calendar you have. It’s annoying for me because I have multiple calendars, some are an FYI/maybe calendar that I keep so I’m using an app instead.

I’m puzzled or it just could be a Samstung disabled feature, but I’m running 6.0.1 and I do not see this option! Ugh!
