Unless you were living inside a cave for the past two weeks, you probably already know about Stagefright and its need to be immediately fixed, such critical vulnerability it is inside the Android OS. After Sprint’s set of updates, it looks like AT&T has also moved pretty quickly and is already rolling out updates for its Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge, and also Galaxy S5 and S5 Active.
All AT&T said about the update is that it is ‘Device security enhancements’, failing to add that this fixes the Stagefright bug.
Earlier, Sprint updated its Note 4, Note Edge, S6 and S6 Edge, Galaxy S5, and Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 to newer builds fixing the said bug. It’s good to see carriers moving fast to fix the vulnerability, no?
These are the build no. of the AT&T updates for each device:
- Galaxy Note 4 (N910A), build N910AUCU2COC6
- Galaxy Note Edge (SM-N915A), build N915AUCU2BOC8
- Galaxy S 5 Active (SM-G870A), build G870AUCU2BOF3
- Galaxy S5 (G900A), build G900AUCU4BOF3
- Galaxy S6 Active (G890A), build G890AUCU2AOF4
How to: grab the update for your device, for this go to Settings > About device > Software update, and then tap on Check for update button.
Update (August 6, 2015): Galaxy S6 Active also added to the list.
