Samsung recently removed the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Note 5 from its official software support page, but the phones that came after these two are still enjoying some love from the Korean company, at least for now.
If you are on AT&T, the carrier is sending out updates to the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge that install a new security patch for the month of August 2018. Of course, this isn’t the latest version in town, but considering the duo has already been succeeded twice, there shouldn’t be much to complain about.
The updates are coming in over the air, with the S7’s bearing version G930AUCS4CRI1 and the S7 Edge’s has version G935AUCS4CRI1, meaning it will be days before all units get the OTA notification, so you need to be patient. Both updates weigh 64MB and are based on Android 8.0 Oreo.
Speaking of which, this will be the last major OS upgrade these two phones get, but of course, there will always be room to for Android Pie-based custom ROMs for those who badly need to keep the S7 or S7 Edge.
