Update: Official changelog and statement from AT&T now available. Look below.

Well, we gotta admit it: we’re surprised for good by AT&T for this, as they just started rollout of the Android 7.0 Nougat update for their Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge today — a large departure from specifically lethargic response they have shown, and delayed update schedule they have followed, not in the last few years, but dating back to the original Galaxy S update that released back in 2010.

Right after we saw T-Mobile push the 7.0 build for its Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge yesterday, AT&T has left Verizon and Sprint eating dust as it jumped the Nougat bandwagon too today, starting with its own Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge Nougat release, coming in as build G930AUCU4BQA6 and G935AUCU4BQA6 respectively. What’s more? You got the February security patch right there, too!

The unlocked Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge units in Europe and Asia were first to grace the Nougat update, which went live there beginning January 17. However, carrier variants, as expected, have not been lucky so far, as they usually take longer to get the update.

The roll out being an OTA, sized 1588.96 MB for the S7 Edge, is a gradual one and may take some time to appear on your notifications. If you are too impatient to wait, there’s an alternative as well.

You can manually check for the Nougat update on your Galaxy S7 device by heading to Settings > Software Update, and smash that ‘check for update’ button to see if you are already eligible for the upgrade. Before hitting the download, ensure that your phone is connected to a WiFi network and that battery is charged to more than 30% at least.
