A month ago, we reported about an update that installed Android 8.0 Oreo on the LG V20. At the time, this update was spotted in Korea, but a few weeks later, the same update started showing up on Sprint handsets in the U.S.
Now, today, we have just learned that AT&T has started rolling out the same Oreo update to its variant of the LG V20.
The carrier notes that the update was released yesterday and has software version H91020g, weighs 1.7GB and further installs June 2018 security patches. Quite surprising at a time when OnePlus are rolling out September 2018 security patches to one of its premium devices.

On the brighter side, a breath of Oreo will bring a sigh of relief from owners of the LG V20 on AT&T, who have had Nougat since the device’s launch two years ago. Given that Oreo is the first major OS upgrade, we also expect Android Pie update to be released for the V20 at some point in future. But looking at the wait it has taken for Oreo to arrive, we could be talking another year before Pie update hits the V20. Let’s hope not.

The update is airborne and will take some time before it arrives on all units, so sit tight. Alternatively, you may try forcing the update via the device’s Settings menu, but there are no guarantees you’ll get the download file.
