AT&T Blackberry Priv and Galaxy Tab S2 get the Android Marshmallow OTA

AT&T has released the android Marshmallow update for two of its devices, the Galaxy Tab S2 from Samsung, and the Blackberry’s Priv. For the sake of context, the Priv at AT&T is receiving the update a month later than its T-Mobile sibling, while the Tab S2 at T-Mobile is yet to get the 6.0 update, though as it’s under testing, it’s quite ready.

The Priv Marshmallow update rollout began only yesterday, while for the Tab S2, it’s been rolling out since July 8. The build no. for the AT&T Tab S2 6.0.1 update is T817AUCU2BPF2, and it requires 1074 MB of your bandwidth, with PF1 update as base.

The Priv’s 6.0.1 update — build AAF355 — is available for not one but last 6 builds, so there is no need to do increment updates to reach Marshmallow. Here’s the size for each build.

  • Launch Release AAC734 to MR2 = 1496MB
  • AAD028 to AAF355 =1432MB
  • AAD447 to AAF355 = 1427MB
  • AAE017 to AAF355 = 1427MB
  • AAE299 to AAF355 = 1427MB
  • AAE599 to AAF355 = 1427MB

The Android 6.0 update brings some great new features to Priv and Tab S2, which mainly includes Now on Tap (for Google Now), ability to control app permissions, and Doze mode — this being the most talked about feature of Marshmallow, as it’s said to increase the batter life by around 20%.

If you own either of these two devices, it’s good to time to head towards Settings and curiously tapping the ‘check for update’ button under ‘System update’.
