The Taiwanese firm Asus has been teasing the arrival of the sequel to the ZenWatch for quite sometime. In April, the firm’s CEO Jerry Shen announced that the ZenWatch 2 will be coming next year in two versions that are designed specifically for both men and women.

Now, it seems like there has been a confusion regarding the release date as the ZenWatch 2 is likely to land in stores in the third quarter of this year as it was planned previously.

At a recent earnings conference, Shen confirmed that the launch of the new smartwatch remains unchanged hinting at the early third quarter of this year. The ZenWatch 2 will be unveiled at the Computex Taipei trade show slated to happen between June 2 and June 6.

Apart from the possible launch date, a few other details were also let out about the smartwatch. The executive noted that the hardware will not match the hope of seven days of battery life that was assured before. However, he suggested that the ZenWatch 2 might last for less than four days on a single charge. Though it is less than the expected seven days backup, it is definitely better than the two days of backup rendered by the original model.

Furthermore, Shen stated that the firm might ship less than one million smartwatches in 2015 and that the wearable market is not expected to be a huge earner for the firm. We will soon get to know more details about the ZenWatch 2 as its launch is not too far away.
