Since the last year, we are witnessing the launch of smartphones with differently colored or functional back covers. Though the tablets have not taken plunge into this new phenomenon, Asus ZenPad 8.0 Z380C has changed the situation.

The firm announced the ZenPad 8.0 Z380C at the Computex trade show in Taipei. The device boasts of mid-range specifications including an 8 inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels. It is powered by a quad core Intel Atom X3 (SoFIA) C3200 series processor teamed up with 1 GB or 2 GB of RAM and Mali-450 MP4 graphics unit.

The tablet from Asus packs in either 8 GB or 16 GB of native storage space that can be expanded further using a micro SD card. The ZenPad 8.0 Z380C features a 5 MP main snapper at its back and a 2 MP front facing selfie shooter for video conferencing.

The connectivity aspects of the device include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 LE. A 4,000 mAh battery powers the tablet running on Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system.

The Asus ZenPad 8.0 Z380C comes with functional back covers that enhance the user experience of the device. There are Zen Case back covers in leather black, aurora metallic and pearl white color options. If you feel the 4,000 mAh battery is not sufficient for your intense use, you can opt for the Power Case back with an internal battery. This case is claimed to provide up to 14 hours of battery life to the slate.

The other options include Zen Clutch folio and the Audio Cover that includes six speakers rendering 5.1 DTS-HD sound output and around five hours of battery life.

For now, Asus has not revealed the pricing and availability details of the ZenPad 8.0 Z380C tablet. We need wait for the firm to announce these details soon.
