Android Pie is officially out and so far it has been released to the Google Pixels and the Essential Phone, the only non-Google device to have received the stable version. In fact, the PH-1 got the Pie update on the same day as the Pixels, something that has definitely become a big deal in the Android world.
Of course, all this was made possible by Google’s Project Treble, something plenty of other developers are also taking advantage of to come up with Android Pie ports for various devices. Apparently, Asus’ ZenFone Max Pro M1 has just joined the party by receiving an Android Pie port of its own.

This achievement was made possible by XDA Senior Member Shivam Kumar Jha, who managed to bring the stable port of Android Pie to the ZenFone Max Pro M1 after the device had had the developer preview version for a while. Most stuff is working great, but of course, there will always be some bugs in unofficial software, among them issues with NFC and in-call audio, but the latter has since been addressed.
