At its first major MWC attendance, Asus unveiled four smartphones. The ZenFone 5 series got three variants, and then there’s Asus ZenFone Max M1 (ZB555KL). Does the name sound familiar? It probably does.
If not, well, earlier this year during the Consumer Electronics Show, the Taiwanese company unveiled the ZenFone Max Plus M1 (ZB570TL). If anything, this is where the name of the newly-launched ZenFone Max M1 came from, however, it doesn’t symbolize a lot.
Unlike what sharing names would imply, the ZenFone Max M1 and Max Plus M1 are totally different phones in terms of design, specs and features. You can read more about the Max Plus M1 here, as for the standard Max M1, here are the specs and features.

Asus ZenFone Max M1 price and release date
At the launch event, Asus did not mention a thing regarding the price or availability of the ZenFone Max M1. However, we don’t think it will follow the Max Plus in the markets it’s already being sold. It’s also still unclear whether the Max M1 will get the Face Unlock feature that highlighted the Max Plus.
In the U.S., the Max Plus can be yours for $229. Looking at what the standard Max has to offer, the Plus variant is a notch higher, which could translate to a slightly cheaper price tag for the ZenFone Max M1.
We’ll let you know the exact price and availability details when Asus announces them.
