The Asus Zenfone max and the Zenfone 2 Laser (ZE500KL) have received an unofficial port of the new Lineage OS ROM. Lineage OS will soon be taking over CyanogenMod. All devices under CM will be supported by Lineage OS from now on.
With this ROM we’ll also be able to know how much of CyanogenMod remains and how much of the ROM was modified. Since Lineage OS uses the same source code as CM 14.1, flashing the ROM should be a straightforward process.
The procedure for flashing this ROM should be the same as the rest of the custom ROMs out there. Before you proceed, take caution and more importantly take backups.
Note: This is an experimental and unofficial build of Lineage OS. There could be some serious bugs/issues with this ROM which may not be suitable for everyday usage. Install/flash this ROM to your device at your own risk.

For help installing the ROM on your device, you can follow our detailed step-by-step guide on installing CM 14.1 using a custom recovery like TWRP. There isn’t any real time difference between flashing Lineage OS and Cm 14.1 with this method so go ahead:
How to Install Lineage OS Using TWRP and CyanogenMod Recovery
Download Android 7.1 Nougat Gapps
Since this is an AOSP based ROM, you’re require to flash/install a Nougat supported Gapps package separately via recovery to get Google services like Play store and others back on your device.
