One of the best features of the budget Android Go-powered Asus ZenFone Live L1 is the support for face unlock for authentication purposes. However, as you’d expect from a phone that is priced at about a tenth of what phones with the best facial recognition technology go for, the face unlock feature here is a hit and miss.

To improve it, Asus has been sending updates to the ZenFone Live L1 handset, the latest of which is rolling out as we speak. Coming in as software version 15.07.1808.15, Asus says this update optimizes the performance of the face unlock feature in addition to general system stability.

This update follows another that came out a month ago with improvements to the performance of face unlock, but we still don’t know if the latest update also carries a new security patch. Of course, you can always let us know about this via the comments section below.

The latest ZenFone Live L1 update is available over the air, meaning it will take a few days before every unit gets the download notification. Rather than wait, you can grab the download file from the page below and install it manually.
