Asus finally seems to be getting ready to launch it’s much-hyped, ZenFone AR in India, probably on July 13.
The smartphone was launched during the CES event earlier this year and is touted to be the world’s first smartphone to come with AR (Google’s Tango) and VR support.
Another highlight of the ZenFone AR is the presence of 8GB of RAM. In fact, it was the first smartphone ever to pack such huge amounts of RAM. Of course, we now have the OnePlus 5 alongside a bunch of other Chinese phones which pack 8GB of RAM.

At the heart of the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset which is a bit of a disappointment considering that most of the flagships now come with the Snapdragon 835 chipset. But again, we don’t know the pricing details of the smartphone in India which, we believe, will be the deciding factor.
That said, except for the slightly old chipset, the device features stellar specs, at least on paper. It comes with a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, a 23MP rear camera, 8MP front-facing camera, 64/128/256GB storage options.
A 3,300mAh battery provides the juice for the device and runs Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.
