ASUS have their hands in almost everything. From motherboards and laptops to backpacks to gaming rigs, ASUS is one of the few companies which has such diverse interests in the electronic sector and fortunately for us, ASUS have taken an allure to the smartphone segment with their Zenfone series.
The Zenfone series by ASUS is one of the fastest growing brands thanks to their stylish designs and superb cameras accompanied by an overall solid build and now the world’s first phone to feature Snapdragon 821, the Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe, is receiving its Nougat update.
The Nougat build, arriving as build number 22.40.26.43 will be rolled out via OTA (Over The Air) and the update process should be completed in about a week. ASUS warns its users that the update from Marshmallow to Nougat is likely to break the ‘ASUS share link’ option and hence, has been removed. Interestingly, the changelog points out to a number of options that have been removed in the subsequent update, all the removed features are mentioned down below-
Changelog
- Upgrade from Android Marshmallow to Nougat
- Remove Share Link
- Remove redundant app shortcuts like Audio Wizard, Splendid, System update and Flashlight from all apps menu.
- Remove PC Suite (CD ROM)
- Remove ShakeShake from ZenMotion.
- Remove various Live Wallpapers
Looking at the changelog, one might seem to think that the ZEN UI will be going for a more stock-like experience for its devices. While the UI changes brought on by the update remain to be seen, ASUS has also provided you with an option to manually update the device in case the OTA update fails to reach you.
To update manually, Go to Settings > About > System Update. Ensure that you use a stable (preferably Wi-Fi) connection to download the update and your battery is sufficiently charged while installing it.
