A couple of weeks back a new Asus device popped up in a GFXBench listing and left us wondering what it was. The same device carrying the model number ASUS_X00ID has now been spotted on Geekbench. And what’s more, this device appears to be running Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

Seeing an Asus device ship with Nougat, especially a non-flagship, is something great. The OEM has a poor track record of keeping its devices up to date, so this is a welcome change too (hopefully, that is). From the older benchmark listing, we’ve already gotten a general idea of the internals that this device packs.

The Asus device may feature a 5.5-inch HD display and may get to be powered by the Snapdragon 430 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. There may be 3GB variant in the works too, as the GFXbench listing would have us believe.

Specs leaked earlier also revealed 12MP+5MP dual lens setup at the backup, which is interesting to note because this device seems to targeted at the low- to mid-end smartphone segment based on the leaks so far.

We’re not sure when Asus will take the wraps off this device, so that also leaves us without an approximate price range too.

But it wouldn’t hurt to say that this new device would fit into the same category as the recently announced Zenfone Live. Asus seems to have done a pretty impressive job on this upcoming smartphone by including a dual lens camera and Android 7.1.11 Nougat. Once it is released, the device is set to compete with the ZTE Blade V8 Mini and similar such devices.
