Taiwanese tech giant, Asus, has unveiled the second iteration of its Republic of Gamers (ROG) branded smartphone — ROG Phone II, boasting arguably the most bleeding-edge specs in the market.
The company is yet to release any official images of its upcoming super-charged gaming smartphone, so it’s more than likely that the ROG Phone II is more of an internal upgrade than an external one.
Specs
As per the company (via The Verge), the smartphone packs a gorgeous 6.59-inch 1080p OLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and support for 10-bit HDR. The device has a touch sampling rate of 240Hz, producing touch latency of 49ms, which Asus has claimed to be the best in the business.
The phone draws power from Qualcomm’s latest and fastest processor, the Snapdragon 855+, making the ROG Phone II the only smartphone in the market to pack this new chipset. The phone also comes with up to 12GB of RAM, 512GB UFS 3.0 storage, a 48-megapixel camera, option of using either stock Android or Asus’ ROG UI, 3D vapor chamber to cut down throttling, Ultrasonic Air Trigger buttons, and a massive 6000mAh battery, which reportedly delivers 7.1 hours of PUBG gaming at 60Hz.
Asus has also decided to update the range of gaming accessories available for the device. The TwinView Dock and the clip-on AeroActive Cooler fan are getting a face-lift, while a new gamepad attachment, called the Kunai, has been introduced to take the smartphone gaming experience to a whole new level.
Price and Release date
Asus hasn’t announced the official pricing yet but has hinted it to be starting at around $899— the launching price of the original ROG phone. The global model, featuring a matte black back panel, of the ROG II will launch in the first week of September.
