The Asus Transformer Pad TF300T released way back in 2012, and so Asus has officially shut the doors for the device regarding updates to the latest version of Android, which Google releases every six months. The last official update Transformer Pad TF300T received was Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
Asus never officially released the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update to the Transformer Pad TF300T, so there’s not even a question regarding an official Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the device. However, you should know that it isn’t about the TF300T being in-capable of running the Android 5.0 or Android 4.4, the device packs 1GB RAM and a quad-core processor which is enough to run Android 5.0 Lollipop smoothly.
The thing with device manufacturers is that they overburden themselves with their custom skin over the stock Android UI, which hurts a device’s performance. And then merging their custom skin to the latest version of Android is another thing, which is why we see 4-6 months of delay in Android updates from device manufacturers.
The Transformer Pad TF300T is completely capable of running Android 5.0 Lollipop. Thanks to developer, timduru, for making effort to build Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM for the tablet. Although, the Android 5.0 ROM for TF300t is far from being used as daily driver, it seems to be the most stable Android 5.0 ROM we’ve seen so far among the many AOSP based that we covered in the past few days.
Most things are already working on the Transformer TF300T Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM. The only things that aren’t working at this time are: Bluetooth, Accelerometer and Camera. If these are things that you could do without for a few days, because the developer should soon be able to fix them, then there’s no reason you shouldn’t install this Android 5.0 ROM on your tablet.
