Samsung has been all over the place with various devices receiving different software updates. The top-tier Galaxy Note 8, S8, S7 and even the midrange Galaxy A7, A5, and A3 from 2017 are now receiving Android Oreo OTA, but others like the Galaxy Tab Active 2, Galaxy J5 Prime, and Galaxy A3 2016 are getting new security updates.
Samsung has started rolling out last month’s Android security patches to the Galaxy Tab Active 2 with software version T395JXU2ARD1. The update, like any other, is coming in over the air, meaning it’ll take some time before all Tab Active 2 units get the download notification.
If you are, however, using the Galaxy J5 Prime or Galaxy A3 2016, the update that’s coming your way brings March 2018 security patches. Although older, they still can’t be ignored because of the weight they carry, especially for devices that won’t be receiving any major OS upgrade.

Where the Galaxy J5 Prime software has version G570MUBU2BRC2, the Galaxy A3 2016 is receiving software version A310FXXU4CRC1. Like the Tab Active 2, the updates are airborne and as such, it may take a few days before everyone gets the download notification.
While you can sit back and wait for the notification to download the update, you can also try forcing it via the Software update button in the Settings menu, but make sure you have a stable Wi-Fi connection and at least 50% battery juice left.
