Apple removed a very nifty feature from its iPads in iPadOS 26 DB1. Users hoping it comes back!

Apple's iPadOS 26 may have brought new polish, but it also removed two key multitasking tools—Slide Over and Split View.

Power users aren’t thrilled. As reported by the user Asohailwahab on Reddit, the long-favored Slide Over and Split View multitasking features are gone in iPadOS 26.

While Stage Manager remains, many feel it doesn’t quite replace the speed and flexibility these tools offered.

Reactions on Reddit were swift. No-Advance-2634 said it felt like “a huge step back.” Solidsnake989 called the removal “tragic for productivity,” while Basic_Schedule1294 asked, “Why take away something that worked?” On the flip side, Quick-Tea-1262 appreciated the cleaner interface, and SixStringKing said they “never used it anyway.” Mixed bag, but the frustration’s louder right now.

Apple hasn’t commented yet, but with users demanding legacy multitasking back, pressure might just spark a future toggle.
