Several weeks ago, Samsung made a promise that it will release Android 9 Pie update for the Galaxy A8 and A8+ 2018 in March 2019. Last week, the latter device’s update to Pie appeared online and today, it’s the turn of the former to join the party.

As of this writing, an Android 9 Pie firmware for the Galaxy A8 2018 has appeared online carrying software version A530FXXU4CSC3. Like its sibling, the firmware floating around is for the Russian market, but of course, this same version should be pushed to all A8 variants with model number SM-A530F.

The Galaxy A8 2018 officially sold in Canada with model number SM-A530W. So far, we are yet to come across the Pie firmware for this variant, but it’s nothing unusual to see the Canadian market trailing Europe with respect to Samsung’s software update release.

The Pie update is also accompanied by February 2019 security patches and of course, the new Samsung One UI should be the major highlight. However, it may take days or even weeks before every user of the Galaxy A8 2018 receives the download notification.

You can either play nice and wait for the OTA notification or keep pestering the software update button in the settings menu until you find a ready Pie update to download.
