It took Samsung about three days between releasing the fourth One UI beta and the stable version for owners of the Galaxy Note 8. As it is, the same story is happening with respect to Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+.
The 2017 duo got the fourth One UI beta about three days ago and today, a stable version of Android Pie is available. The initial update has been spotted in Germany, where the firmware has software version G950FXXU4DSBA for the S8 and G955FXXU4DSBA for the S8+.
Models SM-G950F and SM-G955F of the S8 and S8+ are used in multiple markets outside North America. If anything, more European and Asian countries should join Germans in receiving Pie on the S8 duo pretty soon.
As expected, the update is accompanied by plenty of new stuff. Besides the Pie-inspired changes like adaptive brightness and adaptive battery, you also get a new Android security patch for February 2019.
It’s interesting that Samsung went through all the hassles of rolling out Oreo-based February patches for these two devices when the stable Pie update with the same patch was lurking. Still, it’s great for those who don’t like being first to major OS updates since they’ll still have Oreo software that is up to date in terms of security.
It’s worth noting that this OTA rollout is staggered, meaning not all owners of models SM-G950F and SM-G955F will receive the download notification at the same time.
