With the budget phones like the Moto G7 and Nokia 7.1 packing in a decent amount of RAM and capable processor, the camera aspect of the device is why you may look to buy a premium Android phone.
Yes, 5G is another aspect today even though it’s nowhere near as good as it should be whether you are talking Sprint, AT&T or any other carrier, but one aspect that most people desire more than not is better imaging from their Android phone.
While the cameras on the smartphones have been generally pretty great now, the additional extraordinary features they have is what set them apart.
And one of those extraordinary features is camera zoom, where we are seeing as much as 10x camera zoom crammed in the smartphones.
This new camera technology for smartphones is actually game-changing since zooming has always been a terrible experience on mobile cameras due to the fact that the zooming on smartphones is basically simply cropping into an image.
Fortunately, things seem to be changing are taking a step in the right direction and we now have two excellent smartphones capable of 10x hybrid zoom which allow you to take detailed photos even when zoomed-in.
The two smartphones are the Oppo Reno 10x zoom and the current camera king, the Huawei P30 Pro. See more about them below.
Let’s have a look at which Android phones get you 10x camera zoom right now.
10x zoom Android phones
Oppo Reno 10x Zoom
Oppo’s latest flagship device packs in the Snapdragon 855 chipset coupled with 6GB or 8GB RAM. Apart from its 10x zoom camera the ‘shark-fin’ style pop-up mechanism which holds the front-facing selfie camera makes the device look quite unique especially when using the front camera.
The pop-up mechanism also allows the device to have an impressive 93.1% screen-to-body ratio since it does away for the need to have a display cutout or notch. Of course, the Reno is relatively new and not many individuals have managed to get their hands-on with the device hence there aren’t many camera comparisons with the already available P30 Pro.
You do get three rear cameras and one selfie camera in the motorized pop-up mechanism on the device. The device has a wide-angle lens, a depth sensor, and a 10x zoom lens (periscope lens).
Huawei P30 Pro
Huawei’s P20 Pro brought along an impressive camera system and it seems the company isn’t backing down since the P30 Pro has reclaimed the best smartphone camera title for the company.
The P30 Pro was the first smartphone to launch with a 10x zoom camera; however, you could zoom in all the way to 50x; however, the 50x zoom is simply digital zoom rather than optical zoom. We’re unsure if the Oppo Reno 10x would be able to match the P30 Pros excellent camera performance.
Huawei has done an incredible job with the P30 Pro all the way from its design and build-quality to its camera performance since the P30 Pro can basically ‘see in the dark’. It is powered by the Kirin 980 chipset and has 4 rear cameras including the periscope 10x zoom camera. On the front, it has the 32MP f/2.0 selfie shooter which is also able to capture a lot of detail.
Something worth noting is that both smartphones do not have 10x optical zoom cameras and the 10x zoom is actually a hybrid zoom which makes use of AI to enhance the image.
The P30 Pro has a 5x Optical Zoom lens while the Oppo Reno 10x makes use of a 6x Optical Zoom lens. Nonetheless, both smartphones are superb devices in their own respects and we’re excited to see what the future holds for smartphone camera technology.
