Samsung Galaxy J3 2017 users in Europe and Asia started receiving an update to Android Oreo in mid-August 2018 and two months later, the update has finally arrived in the U.S. through Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy J3 Eclipse and Galaxy J3 Mission.

These two devices are variants of the J3 2017 model that’s sold in the U.S. under different names depending on where you buy it. Right now, the Oreo update is still limited to Verizon’s duo that has model numbers SM-J327V and SM-J327VP for the J3 Eclipse and J3 Mission, respectively, but it should also come to other carriers’ variants soon.

The updates are coming in over the air, where the former’s new software version is J327VVRU2BRHA while the latter is receiving firmware version J327VPPVRU2BRHA. Both updates have the same changelog that also includes a new Android security patch for the month of September 2018.
After the update, you can look forward to things like notification dots, picture-in-picture, Samsung’s Dual Messenger and lots of UI improvements. However, being OTA updates, it will take some time, probably days, before all J3 Eclipse and J3 Mission handsets get the download notification, so be patient.
