We already have a new OS in town –Android 9 Pie, however, a significant chunk of Samsung’s budget phones have yet to see the update to Android 8.0 Oreo. Thanks to Samsung’s Turkish website that usually maintains a dedicated software updates website, we have the dates that Samsung plans to start rolling out Oreo to a flurry of its midrangers, at least for the Turkish market.

First will be the Galaxy J3 2017, which is slated to get the update to Android Oreo on the last day of this month. It’ll then be followed by the Galaxy J7 Core, J7 Pro, J5 Pro and J5 Prime beginning September 28th. While we know the update to Oreo is already available for the Galaxy A8 2016, this is not true for all markets. As per the latest update, Oreo rollout for the A8 2016 in Turkey will begin on October 26th.

Last on the list will be the Galaxy J7 Prime and Galaxy On7Prime, both of which will be updated to Oreo on November 16th.

Note that despite the delay, the listing says the devices will receive Android 8.0 Oreo and not 8.1. Also, it’s worth noting that software update release dates can always change for various reasons, but at least we have an idea of when to expect the updates.

Whether these dates will hold for all markets is unclear, but looking at what is already happening with the Galaxy A8 2016 Oreo updates, it’s unlikely. And then there’s the update to Android Pie. Will your device get it? Well, you can find out by following the link below.
