Android O update confirmed for Asus ZenFone 3 and ZenFone 4 series

It’s not only the design and features of a smartphone which make an OEM great. Roll out of timely updates to the released devices, be it OS upgrades or regular monthly security patches also counts for making a company trust worthy. Trying to win over customers on this front, Asus has officially confirmed that the recently launched ZenFone 4 series as well as ZenFone 3 series smartphones will be updated to Android O.

The announcement was made by Marcel Campos, Head of Global Content Marketing at ASUS, during the launch event of ZenFone 4 series smartphones viz ZenFone 4, ZenFone 4 Pro, ZenFone 4 Selfie and ZenFone 4 Max. He also mentioned that Android O will be gradually released to all supported devices by the second half of 2018. Now that is something we would like to credit the company for.

Asus is treading on the path of lighter-weight Android skins with ZenUi 4.0 which comes on board the latest ZenFone 4 series and is based on Android 7.1.1. ZenUi 4.0 comes with only 13 apps pre-installed apps, compared to the 35 apps pre-installed in ZenUI 3.0. Clearly Asus has got rid of unnecessary bloatware which should increase the overall performance and improve the UI.

Notably, the ZenUi 4.0 sports some new features such as Twin Apps (two social media accounts on one device), Page Marker (a bookmarks app), and more. On the other hand, Android O is going to be an improvement over Nougat with picture-in-picture mode, unread notification app badges and more new stuff.
