Well, well, well. We told you a few days back that Google will release the latest Android operating system i.e. Android O on August 21. Now, Google has officially confirmed the date for some kind of announcement regarding the Android O. Google through all its social media pages has revealed that Android O will “touch down to earth” on August 21, the day of the solar eclipse. The event will be livestreamed from New York City at 2:40PM ET.
But our main interest is in the name of Android O. We all know Android OS names are based on some kind of baked goods or sweets. To recap, previous versions were called as Nougat, Marshmallow etc. So, most probably, Android O could be named Android Oreo.

And guess what? We have some proof as well (unless Google is playing some game). Yesterday, when Google released the teaser video for Android O, the file name was GoogleOreo_Teaser_0817_noDroids (1).mp4. I’m sure I don’t need to explain anything here.
To top it, the popular tipster Evan Blass also tweeted that Android O will be called as Android Oreo. So, I guess, Android O name is settled as Android Oreo since it is coming from him.

However, there is a twist in the tale. Google later renamed the teaser file to Octopus teaser. Wait. What? Yes. That actually happened. In case you are not aware, there have been rumors that Google could name Android O as Android Octopus (8 legs.. see the link?).

Octopus is definitely a food that some people love to relish but a sweet? No, Google, No. We would be happy if Google calls it Oreo or Orange sherbet or anything sweet but not Octopus. I guess we all need to wait for 2 more days.
