Sony recently bought Gaikai, a cloud-based gaming service that allows users to play high-end PC and console games via the cloud from a browser or an internet connected device, and there was no doubt hopes of people getting to see top gaming titles from Sony being available on the service, though rumors suggested that only PS2 or PC games would be coming.
However, some teaser images on the company’s new website seems to suggest that some pretty big name games might make an appearance on the cloud service, including critically acclaimed games like Mass Effect (my favourite), Modern Warfare, as well as Sony exclusives like Metal Gear Rising, Little Big Planet, Uncharted 2, Killzone 1, God of War (which exists on both PS2 and PS3) and a few others. And with Sony’s recent strategy of giving PlayStation certification to non-Sony devices like the HTC One X or One S, we could possibly see games like Metal Gear Rising or God of War come to PlayStation-certified Android devices as well.
It would be great if we could stream such games like Mass Effect or Uncharted on our mobile devices. I often get asked whether I’ve played games like God of War or Uncharted, and being a PC gamer, I have to say no and feel sad that some such great titles are out of my reach, so count me in your wishes for Sony to bring Gaikai and these games to Android.
