Most of us expected to begin receiving Android 9 Pie beta updates on the OnePlus 5 and 5T soon after the software was released for OnePlus 6 users, but here we are.
After pointing out last month that the Pie beta update for the duo will take a little longer, many were not happy about this move, but it seems all is well and the company has just opened the beta program in China.
According to reports just coming in from the Asian country, there is a new version of HydrogenOS that is accompanied by the latest Android 9 Pie. However, this is beta software, meaning not every owner of Hydrogen-based OnePlus 5 or 5T will receive the OTA.

In fact, you need to be in the beta program to stand a chance of receiving the initial rollout, but a wider rollout is expected in the near future. Speaking of which, we also expect the global OxygenOS to pick up Pie beta in the coming days or weeks, probably before the end of this month, with a stable rollout to follow towards the end of 2018 or in early 2019.
