Android 8.0 Oreo for Galaxy J5 Prime and Galaxy Xcover 4 gets certified, could release next month

Android 9.0 Pie is already available for download on up to five phones – the Google Pixel and Pixel XL, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, and the Essential Phone – but there is a flurry of devices that are still waiting to receive the previous OS, Android 8.0 Oreo.

Among these devices in the wait are Samsung’s Galaxy J5 Prime and Galaxy Xcover 4 and the two have just made stops at the Wi-Fi Alliance with Android 8.0 Oreo on board. This means that the organization has certified the devices to receive the OTA update and now it’s Samsung’s time to pull the trigger.

The cleared Galaxy J5 Prime variant has model number SM-G570F while the Galaxy Xcover 4 has model number SM-G390F. With this clearance, it shouldn’t be long before Android Oreo update arrives on the duo.

These two won’t be receiving the update to Android Pie. If you want a taste of this OS, check out this link to see all devices that will be receiving the update before going for your next Android phone.
