This is big day for Verizon Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge users as the carrier has finally started roll out of the much awaited Android 5.1.1 update. And since the build no. is OG5, we believe this also fixes the Stagefright security bug in Android OS. Btw, there is another Samsung device getting 5.1.1 update at Verizon, and that is Galaxy Tab 4 10.1-inch.

The build no. of the update is G920VVRU3BOG5 (Galaxy S6), G925VVRU3BOG5 (Galaxy S6 Edge) and T537VVRU3BOG1 (Galaxy Tab 4 10.1″). The update also brings a new feature called “Caller Name ID” while the usual bunch of 5.1.1 features remain a given. There are some bug fixes too included in the update.

If you haven’t received the update on your Verizon Galaxy S6, S6 Edge or Tab 4, then try to force the OTA update on your device. For this, open Settings > About device > Software update and then tap on ‘check for update’ button.

In case you have rooted your device, note that installing the 5.1.1 update would unroot it, and a root solution is not available for now. In future, root solution may be available as it is on T-Mobile and Sprint S6 sets, but this isn’t KNOX free, meaning these new root solutions void your S6’s warranty and disable Samsung Pay too.
