As Google have revealed their Android 5.0- A sweet new flavor, by far the biggest upgrade. It’s a rush for all Android phone manufactures(HTC, Sony, Motorola, LG, Nvidia, Samsung) to confirm the devices which gonna get a chance to taste this new sweet flavor from Google. Though Google is yet to officially announce the release date for its recently unveiled Android 5.0 Lollipop, reports claim that it might happen in the first week of November. We’ve pulled all the official news from Sony concerning 5.0 Lollipop’s arrival on your Sony’s Xperia series, Z2 in particular. Check it out below.
The electronic giant, Sony, have officially confirmed that all the Sony’s Z series handsets (Xperia Z Ultra GPE (Google Play Edition), Xperia Z, Xperia ZR, Xperia ZL, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1s, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3v, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet, Xperia Tablet Z, and Xperia Z2 Tablet) gonna get the Lollipop update.
But, there’s something to note about the Z2 devices. According to the Japanese phone maker, the Sony Xperia Z2 Android 5.0 Lollipop update will be released sometime early 2015, followed soon after by the other members of the Z2 series. It looks like Sony is planning to do something big with their Timespace UI. It would be really great to see how Sony works on their UI segment corresponding it to Material design.
It is not just Sony, it is a challenging task for all manufactures actually. Will they able to get the “ripple touch”? Or they would just skip them? If they skip, would it satisfy the customer’s desire? Because, one of the thing where 5.0 is hyped about is ripple touch. So it isn’t just design, Sony have to work on, the 5.0 also comes with heads-up notifications panel, dynamic status bar, lockscreen notifications, new quick settings menu, battery saver mode, support for 64-bit processors, ART runtime and moreover support for 68 new languages. Sony needs more time to optimize the new firmware for their devices.
Good things come to those who wait – so goes the age-old saying. This applies to Lollipop’s launch as well, as the wait for it has been worth it. Trust me, you’ll agree once you take Android 5.0 for a spin. Well, it seems Sony gonna follow Google standards, according to reports, Google have a lockdown on lollipop, the lockdown suggest, NO ROOT, in a nutshell. So does Sony, they only gonna provide the Android 5.0 upgrade for stock Sony Xperia Z series, so you shouldn’t expect to get the update in case you’ve rooted your device. Don’t worry, there would be workarounds from XDA folks, in the end, they are just reports. But, Google is really working hard on privacy and security, and it is a good cup of tea.
What are your expectations from Sony? Will it be a complete makeover of the Timespace UI? Your comments are most welcomed.
