The Christmas joy sure seems to be spreading out fast this season. Users of the Verizon HTC Thunderbolt may have something to cheer about.
The HTC Thunderbolt was released way back in March 2011, and is currently not available for purchase from Verizon. The device was supposed to get an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich earlier this year in August. But for some reason, that never happened, leaving Thunderbolt users stuck on Gingerbread 2.3.
Frustrated users have been contacting HTC ever since over email and social media, and finally HTC seems to have deemed it fit to provide a response to a concerned user on Twitter.
HTC’s response is not exactly specific, as it just says ICS will be here soon. In the official updates world, Soon, as we have come to know by now, could mean anything — from a week to 6 months. And given the fact that the Thunderbolt is still awaiting the Android 4.0 bump-up, we can forget about a Jelly Bean upgrade, at least the official one.
Here’s a quick recap of the HTC Thunderbolt specs:
- 4.3″ 480 x 800 resolution display
- 1Ghz Snapdragon S2 single-core CPU / Adreno 205 GPU
- 768MB RAM
- 8GB Internal Storage / Expandable microSD card slot
- 8MP Rear Camera / 1.3 MP Front facing camera
- Android 2.3 Gingerbread
So folks who are still holding on to this fella, will finally be getting to taste some of that delicious Ice Cream Sandwich soon, and we really hope the soon comes soon enough.
