A Rovio game that doesn’t involve flinging birds? That doesn’t sound right, but it is, as Rovio has revealed a new game in the making, titled Amazing Alex. A few days ago Rovio revealed that Angry Birds downloads had reached one billion (counting all the Angry Birds games and on all platforms) which is quite a big number no matter how you look at it, and that’s when they teased Amazing Alex for the first time.
Of course, since it’s a game by the makers of Angry Birds, it’s not a surprise that Amazing Alex is a physics-related puzzle game. Based on the Rube Goldberg-style gameplay seen in the game “Casey’s Contraptions” that Rovio recently purchased, Amazing Alex features Alex, a curious young boy who loves building things in his room. The video below shows off the gameplay in Casey’s Contraptions, which basically includes getting something from point A to B, and is probably what the gameplay in Amazing Alex will entail.

With Rovio CEO Mikael Hed saying that the game will have the same quality as their customers expect after playing the Angry Birds games, it seems Amazing Alex will be another amazing game (see what I did there?) from Rovio. Whether it’s as fun as Angry Birds and whether it goes on to see the same amount of popularity, only time will tell. For the time being though, colour me excited.
