It looks like Acer is preparing to launch a new mid-range Android smartphone, dubbed the Acer V360, pictures and specs of which have leaked online.

There’s a 4.5″ display on the front with a qHD (560 x 960 pixels) resolution, and the phone is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor of unknown type. Rumors also mention a 5 megapixel camera on the rear and a VGA camera on the front, and that the device weighs 140 grams and measures 132 by 68.5 by 9.9 millimeters.

The OS version should be Android 4.1.1 out of the box, and judging by the photos, Acer has elected to keep the look of stock Android, which is always a plus in our books. There does seem to be a custom widget on the homescreen, but that is okay as long as such customization doesn’t affect the actual skin of the OS.

The price of the Acer V360 is expected to be $300 off contract according to the source of these image leaks, which seems like a good price as long as we don’t count Google’s Nexus 4, though the latter isn’t available for purchase in most countries anyway.

The release date is not currently known, but we’ll get back to you on further details as and when they come out.
